I really like school, and every year I can’t wait for school to start. I’m always prepared for the start of the school year. My parents buy me a new backpack and a new pencil case each year. I miss my friends over the summer. It’s great to see them on the first day of school. English is my favourite school subject. This year I have a new maths teacher. She seems strict but she’s great. I forgot to tell you – I like maths, too.
Olivia
I’m not a big fan of school. I like long summer holidays. After that, school can be very boring. My favourite school subject is PE. I also play tennis after school. The only good thing about the first day of school is seeing my friends. I like English lessons because I like reading books. I’m a bit scared this year. We have a new maths teacher. She’s really strict and I’m not very good at maths.

1 Hi! My name is Simon. I’m eleven. I live in a house with my parents and my two sisters. My dad is a fire officer and my mum is a nurse. My sister Anna is 7 and Erica is 9.
2 I live in Auckland, New Zealand. But I’m actually from Australia. I was born in Sydney. We moved to Auckland three years ago. I miss my old friends, but I like it here in New Zealand.
3 I like spending time outdoors. That’s why my favourite season is summer. I like spending summer holidays with my grandparents. They still live in Sydney. We have great beaches there, so I often swim in the sea.
4 When I’m at home I play games on my computer. I love Minecraft. I think it’s the best game in the world. I like it because I can talk to my old friends online.
5 My best friend is Matt. We play rugby together. We have rugby practice three times a week. New Zealanders have one of the best teams in the world. I think I play rugby well, but I’m not very good at the haka. Not yet. But I will learn it!
