The Golden Gate Bridge
This huge bridge crosses the San Francisco Bay in California, USA. It is more than 200 metres tall. There are six car lanes, and you can walk or ride a bike across it. Despite its name, the bridge isn’t golden. It is actually orange.
Did you know?
Why the colour orange? The weather around the bridge is often foggy. When the sky is grey and the fog is there, it is easier to see the bridge because of its bright orange colour.
Tower Bridge
There are 33 bridges in London, but this one is the symbol of the city. Many tourists go there to take pictures, walk across the Thames and see the Tower of London. The bridge has got two towers, but its name actually comes from the Tower of London.
Did you know?
Tower Bridge is a drawbridge, and on average it lifts twice a day so that a passing ship can sail through. It takes about five minutes for it to open and close.
The Brooklyn Bridge
This bridge was once called the eighth wonder of the world. It connects Brooklyn and Manhattan, two boroughs in New York City. The bridge is special at night because you can admire the City That Never Sleeps and its skyline full of skyscrapers.
Did you know?
Many New Yorkers were afraid to cross the bridge after its opening. The builders then took 21 elephants and 17 camels across the bridge to prove that the bridge was safe to cross.
